Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has expressed disappointment over the recent defections of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Tambuwal, who represents Sokoto South Senatorial District in the Senate, believes that no politician with a conscience would join the APC given the current economic situation in the country.
Speaking to journalists after the North-West Zonal meeting of the PDP in Kaduna, Tambuwal attributed the defections to “stomach infrastructure” rather than the interest of the people. He questioned the rationale behind the defections, stating that the APC’s policies and the economic hardship faced by Nigerians make it an unattractive option for politicians with a conscience.
Tambuwal urged PDP members and other Nigerians to unite and work towards defeating the APC in 2027. He described the APC administration as lacking focus, compassion, and direction. The North-West PDP has also vowed to unseat the APC in the next election, resolving to address all conflicts at the national level.
Tambuwal’s comments come amid growing criticism of the APC administration’s handling of the economy. The senator’s remarks echo his previous statements, in which he described the current hardship in the country as a repercussion of re-electing the APC government in 2023.
