The Nigerian government has issued a three-month ultimatum for foreigners with expired visas to leave the country, according to a statement released by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Friday. The grace period, effective until August 1, 2025, allows affected individuals to exit Nigeria without penalties.

Akinsola Akinlabi, NIS Public Relations Officer, signed the statement, which warned that starting September 2025, overstaying a visa will incur a daily fine of $15, along with potential bans of up to five years or permanent blacklisting.

The NIS also announced the introduction of a mandatory online landing card for inbound foreigners and an exit card for outbound travelers, both accessible via lecard.immigration.gov.ng.

The new measures aim to strengthen immigration compliance and streamline travel processes.
