The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned Minister of Works Dave Umahi for publicly praising Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s infrastructure development efforts in the state. The party views Umahi’s comments as undermining their own efforts, particularly since they are fielding candidates for the upcoming governorship election in November.
According to Dr. Valentine Oliobi, the state’s publicity secretary, Umahi’s praise for Soludo’s “marvelous works” during a recent visit to the state was mere flattery. Oliobi argued that Soludo has failed the people of Anambra State, citing issues such as shoddy road contracts, poor economy, and failed security [2).
Oliobi also criticized Umahi’s lack of discretion, highlighting the minister’s business ties with Soludo in federal road construction projects. “Minister Dave Umahi’s unguided utterances were in support of his business ally, Prof. Soludo,” Oliobi said.
The APC Anambra chapter believes that Umahi’s comments will not sway the people of Anambra, who will vote Soludo out in November. As Oliobi put it, “Ndi Anambra are not carried away by minister Umahi’s sugar-coated words for Soludo.”
